Clean, friendly, and a good chicken burrito.
Great food but not as friendly workers!
Great Mexican food. Friendly staff good price!! And I recommend the shrimp tacos!!
They do a great California burrito. What's not to love about steak, French fries, salsa and avacado in a crispy flour tortillas right? All paired with tortilla chips and pineapple salsa, makes for good chow! Don't forget a couple of icy glasses of porchata. I didn't!
So good! Local fish tacos with Pineapple passion salsa-incredible. period.
Delicious food. Friendly staff. It’s a good one.
I made three different orders and all of them didn’t have any flavor, the rice in all of them was bland. The fish tacos was gross & the food was cold. DONT GO HERE!!
No straws or lids for their drinks. Their “famous fish tacos” were overpriced for what tasted like carp. I recommend next door, where you actually get a cheaper drink WITH a lid and straw. Stay away.
If you're like me and looking for healthier options, this would not be the best option. Since my family was going there, I went as well. Fortunately, they did offer a meatless option, the veggie bowl, which included rice, beans, potatoes, and tortilla chips which was pretty good.
First Time here and it was fantastic! The surf and turf tacos were amazing! Definitely staring this as a come back again place
The food was really good and the service was excellent. The bald guy who works out front was extremely helpful, patient, and altogether great at his job!California burrito is so yummyWe also liked the mango shrimp salad
Great street style tacos. Fish was nicely cooked and plentiful. BBQ pork had great flavors and was hearty as a simple filling. Loved the selection of the salsa bar. All were great, in particularly the pineapple which struck a good balance between spicy & sweet. One big drawback was the service. Not rude but lacking any charisma or warmth. Give you a number but just yell your order # out for you to go get your food at the counter. And then you buss your own table. Tip accordingly!
The nachos were very good nit the fish tacos were just ok. Nothing special.
The fish tacos are delicious and cooked fresh with many different types of sauce options (mild to spicy). Great customer service in a convenient location of Kailua Town.
All we can say is AMAZING! My family and I were helped out by Alfonso and wow, we cannot stop talking about how great he was. He turned a simple lunch stop into a full aloha experience! 100% recommend coming here!
Well, if you don't mind missing components of the meal and stale chips and sweet BBQ sauce where it has no business, go for it. Otherwise, avoid. They clearly have no idea how to do Mexican cuisine. Fail.
Very friendly people. The food was excellent. Not what I was expecting but it does have yummy carne asada burritos. More Tex- Mex then traditional Mexican food.
I’m a Maui boy and I grew up eating Maui tacos in Napili since the 90s. Now I’m in California and came back visit. Brought my family and bragged about how good it was but I was embarrassed when we got our meals. Luke warm and seemed like it was microwaved... not much flavor and everyone said “that’s it?” when they saw their plates. Also... $40 for two of us... kinda crazy for tacos. We saw the two $$ signs online and that’s more like $$$. And the “world famous” salsa bar is a joke. They have a little sign that’s says they can’t afford the ingredients and you now have to buy simple items that should be free like cilantro. I just gave you $20 per person give me a break on that sob story. I’m really disappointed and this will be my last visit here. Lady at the counter was a sweetheart, though.
Their fish tacos are delicious!
Being from California this has the hands down best Mexican food on the island! They offer a 20% military discount all day everyday! Pictured is chicken chimichangas10.75 before military discount for one.
Delish & they use good ingredients
The only redeeming quality of this place is the wonderful service that the counter guy showed us. Unfortunately, the food was room temp and seemed like it was heated in a microwave or something. Both my boyfriend and I ordered tacos, pork and steak. We both did not finish our meals because we were scared of getting sick. We spent over 30 dollars here but unfortunately would have rather eaten Taco Bell. As a plus, my boyfriend really liked the salsa options. Maybe it was just an off day. I never ever write negative reviews but I was bummed I spent that much money on it.
Love their fish tacos. Creamy like ranch dressing. Lots of salsas to pick from at their salsa bar.
Was good for Mexican food. It's better here in Texas though. Hah.
Delicious tacos and salsa bar! A little pricey but it's Hawaii so 🤷🏻♀️. Friendly staff and they offer a military discount! the aqua fresca and horchata are amazing!
Killer Mexican eats with a Hawaiian flair! The salsa bar is phenomenal! Aloha 🤙
Absolutely phenomenal food and customer service. Restaurant was very clean and service was quick. Highly highly recommend!
Nothing special about this place. Overpriced for what you get. There’s a salsa stand with 5 different salsas and they’re all just average, even less than. I had the chicken quesadilla and grilled shrimp taco and they were both so-so.
Best tacos on this island. Taste like authentic mexican tacos and then some. Service was good and the tacoa are just delicious. 7 dollars for one taco but well worth your money. They even have aguas frescas here such as horchata, jamaica (hibiscus water), and Tamarind.
Horchata was amazing! And free refills. Then the Kale-Pineapple-Ginger was awesome! Again free refills! The ambiance was great, the service was awesome, the decor was fun, and the name is catchy. The food was a cute attempt at Hawaiian and Mexican fusion. The chicken was tough and unflavorfull. The rice and beans were Uncle Benish. The tortillas were Walmartish. The hot salsa was an economic version of Tijuana Flat's salsa. The coleslaw was basically mayonnaise flavored coleslaw. I may come back for drinks, but not for the food.
Great service and food with fair prices! Will be returning.
Maui Tacos was amazing! Full of flavor, fast and friendly service. Great atmosphere. Will definitely return next time I'm on the island!
The California burrito is my favorite, sadly the prices are really high so typically I split with my wife which works out fine and we both end up happy and full.
The family packs (10 tacos, 2 burritos and 4 tacos or 4 burritos) are a super good deal!! I just hope they keep them after COVID 19 is over.
comparable to food you would get in san diego. will be coming back often.
The lady at the front has horrible customer service. From reading the rest of the reviews I’m not sure how they haven’t fired her; they truly should fire her!
5 stars from me friendly fast service, good portions, fairly priced, great tasting food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone
Was just ok. The online menu does not match the actual menu and the clearly disinterested cashier was confused yet apathetic about this. The salsas were good but the salsa bar was not kept stocked. Decent size portions. Burritos were slightly above average but notably lacked the level of flavor to be called delicious.
Awesome tacos for fair prices. I went here with my wife and family after a long hike to the Pill Boxes. I also highly recommend that hike!
The place was clean and was very accomodating. Customer service could have been better but all in all 5 stars
Bland and very over priced.
I can understand why the fish tacos might have been rated as best of Maui. The flavor was great, the fish was cooked perfectly, and the salsas add terrific variety. The hostess had a smile and warm welcome that would get me to come back every day just to experience that bit of joy. Next time I'm in Kailua I will definitely be stopping here.
We got the standard fish tacos. I loved them, but others in our group didn't. The fish was excellent. The mayo-based coleslaw made it different and they have 5 different salsas you can add.
Good customer service, food was okay
I had a crummy meal at Maui Tacos in Kihei. I gave them another chance in Kaliua. Never again! Overpriced, tasteless, boring.RESPONSE: Sorry, there is NOTHING you can do to win me back. Buh-bye.
This place has the aloha spirit. Great spot for burritos and tacos. I had the wet burrito, my wife had the fish and shrimp tacos combo (surf and surf, not technically on the menu). Friendly waiter, awesome juices.
Fairly close to good Mexican food
The food was great! However, the service was over-the-top amazing!!! Even if the food wasn't great, we'd still go back because the service was so amazing. The owners will go out of their way to make your experience wonderful. I have not had service like this in a very long time, these owners have what it takes to be the best restaurant owners in Hawaii!
We have eaten here now twice, and it will for sure be regular spot for us! The customer service is BEYOND, both times we have been in (the second time he even remembered us!) He was kind, attentive, and personal, answering all of our questions! The my husband devoured his California chicken burrito, and I loved the chicken quesadilla so much I’ve had it both times we have been. Great flavors and hits home for our taco craving (since Mexican-ish food isn’t the specialty here❤️ and rightfully so, it’s Hawaii!) It’s a casual, down to earth place, with great food. After a long day in the sun, it hits the spot! Can’t wait to try more of the menu!
Chicken taste like unseasoned rubber
